Job Goal: To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and warmth.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and evaluate assistant cook.
- Make application for government surplus food for school cafeteria use.
- Plan and supervise the preparation and serving of the menus at the school.
- Inspect school lunch facilities and operations to insure that standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are maintained.
- Prepare and assist the principal with the cafeteria budget.
- Makes use of lists furnished by the Oregon School lunch program in menu preparation in serving Class A lunch.
- Directs and instructs student cafeteria workers.
- Keep records, accounts, and other necessary forms not forwarded to secretary.
- Completes other job assignments as prepared by the principal or superintendent.
- Supervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
- Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Checks food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified.
- Determines the quantities of each food to be served daily.
- Determines the size of serving to meet the necessary age requirements.
- Prepares food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes, and determine if the finished product is of best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
- Records all food requisitions from the storeroom and records all meals served, designating with milk or not.
- Oversees the locking of the storeroom and the maintaining of the correct monthly inventory.
- Orders on a regular basis all necessary supplies.
- Reports immediately to the principal any problems or accidents occurring in the kitchen or the cafeteria premises.
- Confers with the principal regarding any personnel problems.
- Supervises the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils.
- Assumes responsibility for storage and disposal of unused food.
- Must keep up to date on (and make available to others) training films available through the State Department.
- Complete other job assignments as assigned by Building Administrator or Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary to be according to current salary schedule agreed upon in the Classified Collective Bargaining Agreement.
EVALUATION:
The performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building principal.
